“Powerful kings and mighty nations will satisfy your every need, as though you were a child nursing at the breast of a queen. You will know at last that I, the LORD, am your Saviour and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.” Isaiah 60:16 (NLT)
This scripture is a powerful and beautiful promise from God that, I pray, would create gladness and gratitude in us as we declare it over our circumstances and hold on to the assurance that He does take care of our every need. It is, truly, an incredible encouragement!
Yet, as I read it again, what marks me is not so much the promise itself but rather what lies beyond it, its “raison d’être”; this verse speaks so clearly of God’s character as the cause of His blessings.
God does not provide for us only to satisfy us, but rather because He loves us and wants us to have all that we need to become who we are meant to be. As a caring Father, He offers the very best nourishment to His children to nurse us and help us grow.
And it is through that, through our dependence on Him and our reliance on His miraculous hand, that we get to know Him and glorify Him. His faithfulness to bless us and to honour His promises is what we can hold on to as we believe for MORE.
MORE people to encounter His presence, MORE hearts to be revived by His love, MORE lives to be transformed by His grace, MORE stories testifying of His goodness, MORE eyes to be opened and to recognize the He is the Saviour and the Redeemer, MORE of HIM.
This is what R1000 is about, and in the same way we claim this promise over our church corporately, we can do so in our own lives – because with God, there is always more. Let us step into it with confidence and boldness that He is who He says He is and trust that He will demonstrate it once again through His favour.
